PC Buying Guide
Whether you have some, little or no idea about Computers, we’re here to help. This guide explains the main parts and process of gaming a PC, but the best advice can always be found by getting in touch with us, either via email, phone or the online form.
How we recommend the perfect PC for you
We’ll ask a few questions pre recommendation, to get the best idea of your needs and expectations. These questions will be centred around:
- How much are you looking to spend?
- How much do you know about what you need already?
- What tasks or games are you likely using the PC for?
- Any special requests, timelines or aesthetics
These questions allow us to understand your individual needs and requirements. Provided this information, our expert sales team can make the best decisions for you, and will work to optimise the recommendation they make, to maximise the performance based on the budget and constraints set out by yourself.
If you’re unsure as to the answer to any of these, or you simply want an idea of what’s available, we’ll be able to help here too.
Honest Sales Promise
At Bedrock, we believe that PC gaming does not have to be expensive, despite most companies’ computers starting out at around £1,000. When making recommendations to customers, we never knowingly upsell them on computers or parts that they don’t need. Based on your games, budget and needs, we always recommend the best system for you, not the more expensive one.

Anything you have OPEN and running, such as browsers, tabs, apps, programs, files or games are all held in the RAM.
This means it holds this information temporarily, but if you run out of RAM, your PC will start to slow down massively. The more RAM you have, the more things you can do at once. All games or programs need a certain amount of RAM.
Don’t worry though – we ensure all our computers are equipped with a healthy amount, usually 16GB, which is great for almost anything in 2025.

…working as a hub so they can communicate with one another. Motherboards, don’t have a significant effect on performance, but some more expensive boards might have extra interface ports, or slots for upgrading components down the line. For us, reliability is very important on such a complex, crucial component, so we opt for quality. This is why we only work with tried and tested brands such as ASUS, AsRock, Gigabyte and HP.

In performance computers such as Workstations or Gaming PCs, It’s critical the PSU supplies stable & reliable power to all components, so they aren’t ‘starved’ of power. Or worse, so it doesn’t pop or trip your electrics!
It’s not something that’s worth compromising on, which is why our performance systems come with quality PSUs that are 80+ rated to a higher output than what is actually needed.

They’re much cheaper, often holding much more data for the same price. This means more games, programs or files without running out of space.
