My PC Is Power Cycling or Boot Looping

Follow the guidance and videos step by step, as best as you can. This will give you the best chances of success, and it’s easier than you think!
You’re covered for accidental damage and it’s well worth giving it a good shot. This may save you needing to return your whole PC for a fix or replacement!
Issues like yours can happen, especially with complex technology, so don’t panic. Yes, even though every PC is tested for around 5 hours before shipping.
It’s our guarantee that we’ll get this resolved together! Send us pictures of how you’re getting on, or let us know what step you’re on if you’re stuck.

Step 1

The first step is to remove these 3 non essential cables from the motherboard for now. They could be causing shorting and it could fix our issue.

Reseat the Motherboard and CPU power cables from the motherboard. The motherboard cable can be tricky, so here’s a quick video for you, and a picture of where the power cables are.

Don’t just reseat the RAM, try to boot the PC with 1 RAM stick installed at a time.

Don’t just reseat the GPU – If the PC stops looping without it installed at all, let us know! GPU removal reminder guide below.

If it’s now staying ON but you aren’t getting a display, click here!

MY PC ISN’T DISPLAYING ANYTHING On My screen

Follow the guidance and videos step by step, as best as you can. This will give you the best chances of success, and it’s easier than you think!
You’re covered for accidental damage and it’s well worth giving it a good shot. This may save you needing to return your whole PC for a fix or replacement!
Issues like yours can happen, especially with complex technology, so don’t panic. Yes, even though every PC is tested for around 5 hours before shipping.
It’s our guarantee that we’ll get this resolved together! Send us pictures of how you’re getting on, or let us know what step you’re on if you’re stuck.

Step 1

First, check your display cable is going into the graphics card, and not the motherboard! If you ordered an office or workstation PC and don’t have a graphics card, you can use the onboard graphics.

Also, try removing all USB devices from the PC temporarily. This includes, mice keyboards, headsets Wi-Fi dongles etc. Then, try another spare monitor and/or display cable if you have one. We want to rule this out. If you don’t, an HDMI cable to a TV will do just fine.

Next, watch this video guide. Don’t just reseat the RAM, try to boot the PC with 1 RAM stick installed at a time (if you have multiple RAM sticks in your PC).

Step 3

The first step is to remove these 3 non essential cables from the motherboard for now. They could be causing shorting and it could fix our issue.

Reseat the Motherboard and CPU power cables from the motherboard. The motherboard cable can be tricky, so here’s a quick video for you, and a picture of where the power cables are.

If reseating the GPU didn’t work earlier, keep it removed and plug your monitor into your motherboard instead (Yours may have HDMI / DP / DVI / VGA). Let us know if this doesn’t work. Here’s a diagram showing where to plug your monitor in once your GPU is removed.

Step 6

If you don’t have the right ports / cables to use onboard graphics, or it still doesn’t display, reinstall the graphics card. The, power on your PC and press your CAPS LOCK button on your keyboard. If the caps lock button is lighting up, this hints at the GPU being at fault!

MY PC SHOWS A DISPLAY BUT WON’T GO INTO WINDOWS

Follow the guidance and videos step by step, as best as you can. This will give you the best chances of success, and it’s easier than you think!

Watch the video. You may need to remove the side panel of the PC to access the drives. They look like this:

Step 2

Reseat the cables to all drives whilst the PC is off. There should be 2 cables per drive. If this doesn’t work, and you have multiple drives, swap the cables to any 2 drives entirely. If that doesn’t work, swap them back.

If you have another spare SATA cable inside your PC, use this to power your SSD instead of the existing one plugged in.

Now that’s the hardware tested and checked, put everything back together and let’s move onto what you’re seeing on the screen.

Step 3

Your BIOS might look different to the one in the video guide below, but the concept is the same! To enter any BIOS, upon boot, you need to repeatedly press a key. Try Del, F2, F10 or Esc. You may have to use the Arrow, Enter and Esc keys to navigate inside the BIOS.

Play The Video Guide

And to recap, you’re navigating to the ‘Boot’ options/settings. Enable any settings in the BIOS which are set to ‘Legacy’ and set to ‘UEFI’. Is CSM is disabled, enable it!

* Don’t forget to save and exit by pressing F10.

You can also change the boot order under the ‘Boot’ menu. If you have an option for ‘Windows Boot Manager’, set this as the priority (top of the list). If not, set any SSD as priority. Remember to save and exit. You can use trial and error.

If you’re still having issues, it’s likely the boot drive is corrupted… let us know. It will need replacing.

If your PC has a Ryzen CPU / Intel CPU that’s 8th Gen or newer, you can follow this guide to reinstall Windows from a fresh start. Follow this guide here:

MY PC IS MAKING A STRANGE NOISE

Follow the guidance and videos step by step, as best as you can. This will give you the best chances of success, and it’s easier than you think!
You’re covered for accidental damage and it’s well worth giving it a good shot. This may save you needing to return your whole PC for a fix or replacement!
Issues like yours can happen, especially with complex technology, so don’t panic. Yes, even though every PC is tested for around 5 hours before shipping.
It’s our guarantee that we’ll get this resolved together! Send us pictures of how you’re getting on, or let us know what step you’re on if you’re stuck.

Step 1

Although we leave Windows factory and fresh due to customer feedback, you can further optimise your PC for gaming! Average of 10% performance boost.

Step 2

This is usually a very easy fix! Cables can move around in transit, and they can get caught in fan blades. Here are the general location of your fans inside a PC.

Step 3

Whilst the PC is off, check each fan spins freely and is unobstructed. Don’t be afraid to tuck cables out and away – it’s all safe to touch.

If the fans are clear and you’re still getting the noise, try to suss out exactly where it’s coming from. Get close whilst the side panel is off – just make sure your hair is clear.

If the sound is coming from a certain place, let us know where. Point to the location the sound is coming from, and send us a picture.

If all the fans are too noisy or too powerful, it could be because your PC is actually overheating. We can use HWMonitor to check temperatures.

Now onto hardware! Let’s check for overheating. (Watch the video guide)

If your GPU / CPU temperatures are 85C or over, this could be your problem! Let us know!

If the CPU is overheating, it could be because your CPU cooler is loose, or the fan is disconnected / not spinning.

If the cooler feels loose, reseat it. Here’s how each one works. If your cooler has screws, simply loosen then tighten all the way.

If your cooler looks like either of these images, follow the video guide below.

Play The Video Guide

If your cooler has screws like this, simply loosen them and tighten them again.

If your cooler has clips like this, ensure all four clips on the outside ring are fully pushed in.

Some noises inside your PC are normal and expected. Coil whine and hard drive noise sounds electronic and mechanical, and they are normal and safe!

If you’re still unsure, send us a video or voice clip of the sound! We’ll get this sorted together.

MY STORAGE IS MISSING OR NOT SHOWING

Follow the guidance and videos step by step, as best as you can. This will give you the best chances of success, and it’s easier than you think!
You’re covered for accidental damage and it’s well worth giving it a good shot. This may save you needing to return your whole PC for a fix or replacement!
Issues like yours can happen, especially with complex technology, so don’t panic. Even though every PC is tested for around 5 hours before shipping, and it’s not impossible for mistakes to happen.
It’s our guarantee that we’ll get this resolved together! Please keep us informed (or send us pictures) on how you’re getting on, or let us know what step you’re on if you’re stuck.

Step 1

This is usually a very easy fix! It’s likely the storage is just disconnected or not initialised. Either way, the PC is safe to use until this is resolved.

Step 2

First, let’s check if the drives are visible. Click the yellow file manager icon. Then click ‘This PC’.

  • You may have multiple Partitions / Disks across your total storage – as long as it roughly adds up to the total you ordered.

Step 3

If you’re running out of space to install games / files, follow this guide here:

STORAGE RUNNING OUT

Step 4

If you’re still confident the storage isn’t adding up, go to Disk Manager. Right-click the Windows Icon, then click ‘Disk Management’.

Step 5

Right click the black bars [not blue] for any partitions that aren’t initialised, then click ‘New Simple Volume’ – then click through the steps clicking Next continually. Then you should have the drive initialised and the bar will turn blue!

* You may need to use the Scroll wheel to see all drives

If any Disk doesn’t have a letter next to it when it’s assigned, right click the blue bar, then assign it a Drive Letter. Send pictures over email with brief context [charlie@bedrock-computers.co.uk] of this full screen if you’re unsure!

Step 6

If you’re still not confident all storage is not showing, it’s likely the drives are disconnected or faulty. You may need to remove the side panel to access the drives.

Open up the metal panel opposite the glass panel. It’s held in with 2 thumb screws, and it will then slide off in the same direction towards the back of the PC.

You’ll find plenty of spare cables and wires behind this panel. Many of these are spares and this is normal. They look like this, in order: HDD/Hard Drive, Normal SSD/Solid State Drive, m.2 SSD/Solid State Drive.

Step 7

Reseat the cables to all drives whilst the PC is off. There should be 2 cables per drive.

* If you have spare SATA cable(s) inside your PC, use this to power your drive(s) instead of the existing one(s) plugged in. This rules out faulty power to each drive.

Step 8

If the storage still isn’t showing after a PC restart, then send clear pictures of ALL storage devices / PC insides [as clear as possible] to us via email [charlie@bedrock-computers.co.uk] WITH some brief context. We’ll look for for potential defects or inconsistencies.

Worst comes to worst, replacing, installing & returning Storage / Drives is easy to do – we’ll resolve this for you!

Although we leave Windows factory and fresh due to customer feedback, you can further optimise your PC for gaming! Average of 10% performance boost.

Step 2

If you’re still unsatisfied with the performance, you can follow an online optimisation guide on YouTube specific for the game. This can achieve up to 50% extra performance! For example, for Fortnite, search ‘Fortnite performance optimisation guide’.

Step 3

If you’re still having issues, it could be because your PC doesn’t hit the spec requirements for the game. Test that here.

* Click the link below and follow the steps so the website can find your spec automatically. Then, you can use the website to search for your game

Check my PC

If your PC doesn’t hit the requirements, reach out to us. We’ll help.

Now let’s reinstall your graphics card drivers! First use DDU to uninstall your old drivers. Select the ‘Clean and restart’ option and don’t boot into safe mode. Take note of your GPU model when on this screen.

And here’s how to reinstall your graphics card drivers

Let’s try the PC with 1 RAM stick installed at a time. This rules out a single stick being at fault.

*Please note less RAM sticks will temporarily reduce performance, but we’re just checking to see if it fixes crashing in game.

MY FANS / RGB LIGHTS AREN’T WORKING

Follow the guidance and videos step by step, as best as you can. This will give you the best chances of success, and it’s easier than you think!
You’re covered for accidental damage and it’s well worth giving it a good shot. This may save you needing to return your whole PC for a fix or replacement!

It’s our guarantee that we’ll get this resolved together! Send us pictures of how you’re getting on, or let us know what step you’re on if you’re stuck.

Step 1

This is usually a very easy fix! The cables are thin and can easily get disconnected.

Before we start, please note it’s normal for GPU fans not to spin unless under load / gaming.

Step 2

Any case fans that are in your PC should be spinning and lighting, like below.

Please note it’s still safe to use a PC with fans not spinning, as long as 1 or more is powering.

Step 3

Remove both PC side panels. Both may be metal like below, but usually one is glass.

When opening the rear side panel, there are many spare cables and it may be overwhelming – don’t worry, it’s simpler than it looks!

Step 4

If all your case fans are not spinning / lighting at all, it may be because their power source is disconnected.

A disconnected power source may look like this below:

Or, the hub may not be plugged in – here’s what fan hubs look like:

Step 5

If it looks disconnected, plug the power back in to it’s power source cable. Usually this looks like one of these.

Send us pictures of the cables if you’re still unsure! Don’t stress it.

Step 6

If it’s just 1 fan at fault, it’s really simple. Just follow the cable(s) coming from the offending fan (each fan has 1-2 cables). And find out where the end of the cable(s) end up!

If the cable(s) aren’t connected, reconnect them into any female cable which is spare.

If they look connected, reseat them, or plug them into another spare female end port. If you have a fan hub, try different ports.

It’s safe to do this whilst the PC is on. This helps give you a live update of if you’ve fixed the problem.

It’s important to note that if you have a GPU installed, you can ONLY use the GPU ports to run multiple monitors.

Like the video mentions, you may need an adapter cable to make this work. for example:

  • If you have a VGA monitor and your PC has a spare DP port, you’ll need a VGA to DP cable.

  • If both your monitors are HDMI only and your PC has 1 HDMI port on the Graphics card but has a spare DVI port, you’ll need an HDMI to DVI cable.

Step 1

Try a different power cable, extension lead or socket. It is possible that the PC isn’t turning on simply because it isn’t being supplied with an appropriate amount of power.

If that doesn’t work, reseat the RAM first. Then try the PC with 1 RAM stick installed at a time. Here’s a video describing how to remove and reseat a RAM stick.

If that doesn’t work, reseat the GPU and try again. If the PC powers on without it installed at all, let us know! Here’s a video on reseating the GPU.
